We took a short break from Asian Horror Movies week to watch a couple of more appropriate movies with my kids, starting with this eerie 1960 classic about an English village that is mysteriously cut-off from the rest of the world for a few hours.

Nine months after an unexplained couple of hours during which everyone within the town of Midwich fell unconscious, every woman of child-bearing age gives birth to a blond-haired, otherworldly child. the children, who grow at an alarming rate, travel in a pack and share a hive-mind, and anyone who crosses or perturbs them meets an unfortunate end.

The Village of the Damned is an excellent old-school sci-fi thriller with iconic creepy kids and many memorably sinister moments. the children are indeed chilling, and anyone who can enjoy 1950s/60s era movie should find this an 80 minutes well-spent. This is perfectly suitable for kids of all ages, unless you're made uncomfortable by the subject of immaculate conception.
